Farewells, Welcomes and Recruitment for EYCDI Advisory Group

The EYCDI Advisory Group met in Vancouver last week, excited about the growing momentum of the EYCDI and the impact we are collectively having in the ECD world!

We were saddened to say goodbye to 3 long term committee members - Val Janz (Kamloops Children First), Sasa Loggin (Terrace Make Children First) and Susan Whittemore (MCFD, Fraser Region).  And, we are delighted to welcome 4 new members – Lynn Reside (North Okanagan ECD Coalition), Cindy Lise (Cowichan Valley Success by 6/Children First), Joseph Dunn (Comox Valley Success by 6/Children First) and Holly Handfield (ECD Mapping Project, Grande Prairie, Alberta).

Seeking a New Recruit

At our meeting we also discussed how helpful it would be to have the voice of a new coordinator at the EYCDI Advisory Group. Are you that person? Are you committed to building the profile of Early Years Community Developers in BC and across the country? Are you interested in becoming more involved in the Early Years Community Development Institute (EYCDI)?

The role of the advisory group is to oversee all aspects of the Institute, developing activities to connect, inspire and inform Early Years Community Development professionals. The group meets several times a year, both by conference call and face to face.  Face to face meetings are held in the Greater Vancouver or Victoria area if travel funding is available.

If you have been a coordinator for less than 2 years and would like to be considered for this opportunity, please send a short (no more than 3 paragraphs) expression of interest, outlining the experience and  specific skills you bring and a comment on why you would like to be involved.  Expressions of interest must be received by March 30, 2012.  Please send to:  joanne.schroeder@ubc.ca
